The CEFREM has for a long time been investigating coastal environments, focussing on the socio-economic issues inherent in using them.
Its research looks at matter and energy transfers at the coastal system’s interfaces. This includes physical exchanges of water masses, particles and other elements (carbon in particular) within the continent/ocean continuum. Its marine ecology resources have recently been bolstered. It carries out all of this research within the framework of international, national and regional programmes.
